Thoughts
Ideas I’m currently interested in, threads I keep pulling on, and things I’m trying to figure out. I’m probably wrong about many of these, but thinking out loud is half the point.
Threads I Keep Pulling On
Agency and Control
How much of what happens to us is within our control, and how much do we just convince ourselves it is? I think about this a lot — in work, in relationships, in how I plan my days. I tend to be controlling, and I’m trying to understand where that instinct comes from and when to let go of it.
Identity and Authenticity
What parts of who I am are actually mine, and what parts are inherited, borrowed, or performed? I notice this tension especially in how I present myself vs. how I actually feel. I’m interested in the gap between the two.
Meaning Making
I’m drawn to people and work that feel meaningful — but I’m suspicious of that instinct too. Not everything needs to mean something. Sometimes a run is just a run. I’m trying to figure out when meaning-seeking is generative and when it becomes its own trap.
How We Think
The mechanics of thinking interest me — how tools shape thought, how framing changes decisions, how the same person can reason clearly about one thing and be completely blind about another. I wrote a bit about this in my PKMS essay.
Building Things
I like making things — systems, frameworks, meals, this website. I’m curious about what makes the process of building feel different from the process of maintaining, and why I’m drawn to the former and resist the latter.
Things I’m Exploring Right Now
Becoming a Better PM
I’m a year into product management and actively trying to sharpen the craft — building taste, learning to write better specs, getting more intentional about how I make decisions with incomplete information.
Coffee Brewing
I’ve started logging my brews and I’ve grown consistent. For the last three months, I’ve been following a “dripper a month” challenge — picking one brewer from my daily drivers and going deep with it. More on my setup, favourites, and the people I learn from on the coffee page.
Food Experimentation
I like to experiment with food conceptually — if almond milk tastes good, why not peanut milk? What happens if I try to roast green coffee beans at home? I’m less interested in perfecting recipes and more interested in understanding why certain combinations work. More on what I eat and love.
Form Factor and Everyday Design
I pay attention to how everyday objects are shaped — watches, rings, backpacks, bottles. Not in a design-nerd way, but more out of curiosity: why does this thing feel good to use and that one doesn’t? What makes a form factor click?
